A message from Meredith Little and Scott Eberle:
We are so pleased to include Choosing Conscious Elderhood in The Practice of Living and Dying curriculum. As lead guide, Ron Pevny brings passion, experience and commitment to this essential and meaningful rite of passage. For thousands of years communities have honored their Elders for the wisdom gathered through living many seasons and life transitions, and from hearing the whisper across the threshold of physical death as it grows closer. Ron and his colleagues are masters at listening for the new story of Elderhood in our world today, and supporting each of us to more consciously embody our unique version of this evolving story.

This retreat is grounded in the understanding that the inner work that is necessary to make the passage into the fullness of one’s potential as an elder is the same work that is so important in preparing for one’s passage out of the physical body into the Mystery beyond. An identity that no longer brings aliveness must die so that a new, more expansive self may be born. Old baggage must be shed so that the new life that calls may be embraced.
Choosing Conscious Elderhood is structured to serve as a rite of passage for those ready to claim their elderhood. For others, it provides an opportunity to do important work on their journey toward a conscious elderhood.
This retreat will help you address questions such as:
• What distinguishes an “elder” from someone who is “older”?
• What does it mean to become an elder at this time of profound cultural transition?
• How can the elder third of our lives be the pinnacle of our emotional and spiritual development?
• How are you called to serve the greater good as an elder?
• What inner work do you need to do to age consciously and prepare to fully claim and embody your elderhood?
