…. There is no end,
believe me! to the inventions of summer,
to the happiness your body
is willing to bear.
-- Mary Oliver, “Roses”
Can there be anything as miraculous as the soft bloom of a tender wildflower, the brilliance of a wildfire, the shape of fox in the twilight, the character reflected in the lined face of an elder? We are indeed blessed to have the senses to see, hear, smell, taste and touch the physical world around us. This intimacy grounds us in this one precious life. Our bodies bring form and expression to soul, mind and spirit; and each diverse expression of our nature brings eternal wisdom into form.
During our 5 days together we will explore and open the wisdom of our bodies, born with an insatiable thirst to express our inherent passion to live, touch, and thrive. This eros and sensuality guides us into realms that are pre-conscious, instinctual, irrational, and shamanic. Like a child who has no end to curiosity, no borders between them and “other”, no shame in all innocence, we will celebrate this ephemeral gift that, knowing it will one day return to earth, rages to live and be a part of the intimacy of relationship with the world around us.
Anchored in the 4-shields of the body and shamanic tools to open our senses, we will use energy work, body meditation, dancing, drumming, art, and laughter. There will be solo time on the land, and stories shared between us. Emphasis will also be on the introduction of basic mirroring teachings of how to listen deeply and heart fully and reflect back the beauty of each story, with large and small circle time to practice this old art.
