"It is the marriage of soul with nature that makes the intellect fruitful, and gives birth to imagination." - Henry David Thoreau

Creativity is expansive and carries the seeds of mystery and imagination within the fertile ground of our lives. There are countless ways we humans have access to creative expressions. It may come from a simple idea or brain storming the designing of a sustainable community, choreographing a dance, writing a life story, painting a portrait, or perhaps imagining a new life and anything else in between. And yet these expressions must begin with a nugget of inspiration, imagination or vision before it begins the journey towards manifestation.

Creativity shows up differently for each of us and we may be surprised by the ways it can suddenly emerge. There are many who insist that they don't have a creative bone in their body and yet long for ways to tap into these hidden skills. This begs the question, "How do I access this place in me?"

This program is geared towards the Wild Seeds of Inspiration, the spark that propels us forward and opens us to the creative process. Ample spaciousness will allow us to tap into and discover what lies waiting to burst forth, our own exquisite innate expressions of creativity inspired by time spent together in nature.

Program Overview: Each day we will open ourselves to the teachings of the natural world as we are guided through the lens of The Four Shields of Human Nature (a nature-based teaching) which will move us through the cycles of the seasons. Creativity is just one aspect of our own unique nature, not unlike the different qualities and aspects reflected in each of the four seasons. During our time together we will explore ways to deepen our relationship with the natural world and discover insight into the qualities of nature that can evoke renewed inspiration and expand the imagination.

No experience is required. If you are seasoned in the creative process this offering may deepen and expand you in new and exciting ways. If you are someone who questions your own creative talents or doesn’t quite know where to begin and are willing to stretch your edges, this could be the program for you. We invite all forms of creative expression and encourage you to bring the tools that will support your interests, vision or dreaming. Most importantly, bring your willingness to stretch, grow and spread your wings.

Every morning we will begin with a check in, daily teachings and discussion. The afternoons and some evenings will be focused on a suggested exercise guided by your specific creative expressions, where you will spend 2-3 hours solo time in nature. A community gathering space will be created to share stories with time for reflections and discussion. On the morning of the last day everyone will have the opportunity, if they choose, to show any final works of creative expression, after which time we will have our closing ceremony. We hope to end by noon.

Time and Location: We will gather in the Sonoran Desert at Catalina State Park: azstateparks.com/catalina, Indigenous lands of the Hohokam, Tohono O’odham and Yaqui Indians and desert home to the saguaro cactus, javelina, big horn sheep, deer and coyote along with a wide variety of bird species. We encourage people to arrive no later than Friday, October 8th at 3:00 PM to allow time to set up your camp and share in a potluck meal. Our first meeting will begin at 7:00 PM, October 8th and we will complete our ceremony on Tuesday, October 12th at approximately 12:00 PM.
